Technically this is more like a marathon weekend, but the events go from Friday to Tuesday if you count my usual appearances in the Cobalt Poets online open mic so almost a week. In any case, I have several exciting announcements that I had to split it up into 2 different weeks where I have consecutive poetry-related happenings.
We’re kicking off with a trans poetry event on September 19 at Tyler Station in Dallas. The readings start at 10:30 PM CDT and the event is free. Now more than ever, trans creatives need your support!

The next day, I’m heading over to the Irving Archives & Museum to record a poem that was commissioned in response to their Badge of Pride: From Silence… to Celebration exhibit. I’m so honored to be a part of this project alongside many fantastic local poets. There will be a reading in October 5 (also free to attend but please RSVP), and I will post again for Poetry Marathon Week 2.

I like that “pretty boi” is kind of my third occupation here. If you’re in DFW, please check out the exhibit. It was so moving and informative, and Badge of Pride worked hard to make it happen despite a lot of opposition. Your attendance will show that these sorts of exhibits are important (and shout out to the Irving Archives and Museum for providing the space). You have until September 28.
Lastly for folks outside of North Texas, I have an event you can check out on Sunday, September 21. I’m delighted to celebrate one year of Yellow, the Asian-centric virtual open mic, by participating in their CelebrASIAN reading, starting at 12 PM CDT. Please get your free ticket on Eventbrite to receive the link to the Zoom and get some education goodies.
